Worst Reviewed of 2018: Oceans 8
When I go back and read the review on Oceans 8 from Day 68 of the Moviepass experience, it really makes me appreciate Steve McQueens Widows even more. It wasnt til the day after Widows that I couldnt help but make the comparisons.
Both are about the same running time.
Both are about a man who screwed a female love out of the life she knew.
Both go from a story about necessity and survival to revenge.
And then we fork off.
Both have female characters.
One has half the team to succeed.
Both have consequences.
One only highlights the danger and exhibits those consequences when things dont go as planned.
One has a character facing real jail time but its as far off screen as can be and never mentioned again.
Only one team is experienced at this heist thing and theres nothing to worry about.
One team is a bunch of housewives and success is not guaranteed.
I could go on and on.
This makes me want to write another review giving Widows a better rating than the Three of Six I gave it.
And because of how passive Oceans 8 was, I kind of want to give it a rating lower than the Two I presented it originally. And I think it was also at the end reveal that this big complicated heist was actually three big complicated heists, ensuing that the other five ladies didnt realize they were putting in a lot more effort for what they thought was only one thing.
I stand by if you love the previous Oceans movies, youll also like this one.
