Disappointment of 2018: First Man

2018 was just mediocre for movies, at least compared to 2017 and looking forward to what we already know 2019 might bring. And that goes for the 21st movie we saw with our AMC Stubs A-List, First Man from just back in October.
As of this post, its already nominated for a few Golden Globes and will certainly be nominated for a few Academy Awards and we’ll come back to those, because quite frankly after looking up what exactly was nominated Im not surprised and actually agree with the nomination.

This movie should have been better than it was. But I guess it really was an internal drama that just happened to be happening to this guy who was Neil Armstrong. As stated in an earlier review, I enjoyed those last 15 mins in IMAX they were spectacular and I wish the whole movie was that minus 25 minutes.

Back to the award nominees, one of them is for original score and I guess thats cool, but the one stand out of that movie and in this nominee list, is Claire Foy who played Mrs Armstrong and just gives some passionate monologues reminiscent of Academy Award winner Beatrice Straight from 1973s Network for Best Supporting Actress. You forget, or are surprised that just three weeks later she would helm her own movie taking over the reigns as Lisbeth Salander in the Dragon Tattoo series despite also receiving a three out of six was much more entertaining overall.
