The Hurricane Heist: Review by @Kush_Hayes

The Hurricane Heist: Review by @Kush_Hayes

When I was introduced to the trailer for The Hurricane Heist, it automatically looked silly but the Scorpions song sells it hard. Great tagline as well: $600m Stolen at 600 MPH. That actually doesnt happen. No spoiler tag because this movie will be forgotten very soon.

The story is very simple, The largest hurricane ever is coming into Alabama. This of course invokes an town evacuation. As that happens, $300 million dollars are on their way to being destroyed at the local depository. But there was a glitch with the industrial shredder, so the past delivery of $300 million dollars is also standing by to be destroyed. Thats $600 million for those keeping count - smileyface.jpg. Turns out folks at the depository along with the local sheriff's department have synchronized this hurricane with a bank heist. About 6 men manage to overtake a dozen federal armed guards with automatic assault rifles with their tiny tranquilizer darts.
While all this is going on the kids we met earlier in the movie, have grown up, one to become a meteorologist with the greatest weather monitoring vehicle known or unknown on this great continent, and the other to take over for their dads tow and repair shop.
Eventually shit runs amuck, the brothers get involved with Special Agent Maggie Graces help.

There are small stunts that are really good in this. A car flips on its side. A man hangs off the side of a truck. A soundstage set up as a town gets flooded. A house gets tipped on it side. These are overlooked. Its the hurricane that sucks up trucks that look ridiculous.

As stated above this is a silly movie, and at best we’ll find it on TNT on Sundays in 14 months.
Despite starring LOSTs Maggie Grace and True Bloods Ryan Kwanten, “The Name” that keeps selling this is “Rob Cohen” and “The Fast and The Furious”. Rob Cohen has been apart of only big name movies since the first The Fast and The Furious and aside from XXX, his movies have only gotten worse. Its almost as if they powers that be are setting him up for failure.

I believe Rob Cohen tried to make the best movie he could on $35 million but the negatives in this film far outweigh the positives.
