Huyghe Brewerys Deliria: Review by @Robyn_Seto
Deliria is a Belgian strong ale by Brouwerij Huyghe (or Huyghe Brewery), a special beer brewed entirely by women to celebrate International Women’s Day. Of hundreds of applicants drawn from across Europe, only a skilled 15 are chosen annually to brew Deliria at Huyghe Brewery.
Upon pouring, this beer is highly carbonated yet thick in consistency, creating a large frothy head that featuring lovely lacing (residual foam left on the inside of the glass as you sip). Past the foam, sweet and hoppy strike a bright balance. The bitterness from the hop combines with sweetness to create a flavor similar to the skin of a ripe green apple. Fruitiness is very slight, and as the beer warms the hoppiness calms and gives way to sweeter and more mild flavors. It finishes delightfully dry, without a cloying taste on the tongue.
Typically these are only sold in single 750mL bottles which is approximately a pint and a half of beer, and at 8.5% ABV, I highly recommend sharing this with one or two people. Perhaps a special lady in your life would appreciate sharing this wholly female crafted beer?
