The Lego Movie 2: Review by @Kush_Hayes
What can I say about The Lego Movie 2 that we didnt already say about the first Lego Movie? Nothing really. Its the same visual quality. Great level of detail down to the greasy fingerprints on the actual Lego Blocks. Its the same humor. Not only parodying IPs that Lego already has the license too and fewer compared to the first but now its parodying itself as well as two popular film genres, namely Apocalypse films and SciFi PLUS Chris Pratt films.
It even has most of the same voice talents we loved in the first one, but theyve been condensed for new voices. Who do just as good a job, but the charm is missing. There is a specific Celebrity Voice that makes you chuckle when appearing for its Rule of Three Humor.
Unfortunately the twist is still the same, this is all in the imagination of a child. You know that going into it. The movie doesnt try to hide it. The Point of View will alter, but its all just ridiculous regardless.
There is fun in this. But its the same level of fun in any of the lower rate Lego features already on Netflix. Theres nothing special about this to me. Your kids will love it. I dont know if it will help them with the message of sharing, and “dont mind the age gap between them”. But I cant pretend this is anything different from what we;ve seen in now three other theatrical features plus an unlimited number of animated shorts with your favorite IPs.
Your kids will enjoy this. However if theyre young enough, I suggest saving yourself some money, putting any of the already existing features on Netflix on your flatscreen and placing it in another language giving it the illusion that its kind of different.
Three out of Six Blueberries
Rated PG for mild action and rude humor
