Jackrabbit Brewing Cos Raspberry Kettle Sour: Review by @Robyn_Seto
Hello February! I’ve decided the theme for this month is “Berry Sweet”!
So to kick off this month, I’ve chosen Jackrabbit Brewing Co.’s Raspberry Kettle Sour. Kettle sours are different from a standard sour in a couple ways. Kettle sours are produced in a steel kettle instead of a wooden barrel with lactobacillus, a probiotic bacteria that converts sugar into lactic acid, instead of yeast. This method of brewing produces a finished product much quicker than a standard sour and tends to make a more consistent beer.
Nothing too flashy here, yet still an outstanding beer! From the first sip you are greeted with a fresh berry tartness. The flavor is that of fresh raspberries that have just barely ripened. A strong tartness, but not overwhelmingly acidic. There is a pleasant carbonation to this beer. It’s closer to something like a spritzer than the effervescence you may find in a champagne. Overall, I find this beer very bright and refreshing.
Skip the champagne and berries this Valentine’s Day. Go for this delightful Raspberry Kettle Sour, especially if you or your sweetie’s alcohol tolerance is low. At only 4.3% ABV, this beer packs in a lot of flavor.
